Palpa Tansen Tour
Palpa is in Lumbini Province district of Palpa Tansen is its headquarters, and not far from Pokhara easily reach by bus it was Hindu Sen kingdom, before the unification of Nepal there were several hill-states of principalities in this region which were known as Bara Magarat. Sen Dynesty ruled many years in Palpa after the Muslim invasion of India numerous kings of different states had taken shelter in the borders of Tarai, Mountain range and the the south of Himalayan range. Some of them conquered the local kings and founded their own states. The Rudra Sen the descendant of Khem Sen and Ram Sen, crossed the Chure range, entered into the beautiful valley of Madi situated in the Mahabharat range, and founded his kingdom in the valley. Rudra Sen is supposed to be the founder of the Sen dynasty of Palpa. He got his eldest son, Mukunda Sen, the first, married with the daughter of a Magar Chief of Baldengadhi. Thus he strengthened his kingdom here.
Mukunda Sen, sat in the throne of Palpa in the year 1518 A.D. he was the greatest king among other Sen kings. he was the first king who got victory over the very large part of the present Nepal and tried to found an unified Nepal. But due to the lake of proper management and the absence of adequate transport facilities he could not keep those conquered states unified. Some historians say that he had conquered up to the region of Koshi river and had attacked the Kathmandu valley. It is said that in the battle with kathmandu he snatched away the two statues of Bhairab from chariot of God Machhendra Nath. He established those statues in the temples of Amarganj Bhairab and Nuwkot Bhairab near Butwal. Mukunda send helped Ratna Malla, the king of Kathmandu by sending his troop in the battle with Tibet. In Palpa there are many Hindus temple and handicrafts and textile Palpali Dhaka Topi is very famous, and Palpa has so many festival therefore Palpa is culturally and historically very reach.
Overview
Palapa, is now very well-known place for domestic and international visitors due to historical and religious view point. It is approximately 285km from Kathmandu, and from Sunauli roughly 72 kilometers, even you can travel by bus from Pokhara or Chitwan on deluxe buses or take a 45 minutes flight KTM to Lumbini then catch bus to Tansen. Tansen is the headquarter of Palpa and town of temples, among many temples situated in and around Tansen, the Bhagwati and Amar Narayan temples are very famous also there are some Buddhist shrines in city. Shrinagar
The Shrinagar hill which lies at the top of the Tansen offers several charming natural objects for the visitors. The panoramic view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna – I, and in south you can see the sweeping Tinau River valley below and far south the plain of the Tarai is Visible clearly. The wide paddy field of the Madi Valley also you can see the farmers working in the field, morning hiking is the best for Shrinagar it can be awesome experience.
Rani Mahal
The Rani Mahal is lies in bank of Kali-Gandaki River and approximately 13 kilometers from Tansen the Mahal stand a huge rock it is known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal, located in a beautiful and peaceful area, place was built in 1896 by Khadga Shamsher Rana in remembrance of his deceased wife. Itinerary
Day 1
Early morning, catch bus from Kathmandu and journey towards Tansen takes about 9/10 hours, or from Pokhara 5-6 hours likewise, 3-4 hours from Lumbini, check in to hotel have your dinner overnight at Tansen Palpa.
Day 2
After breakfast, hike top of the hill Shrinagar and back to hotel have you lunch and be around in Tansen city visit historical place Tansen Durbar, religious temple etc. evening dinner and overnight at Tansen Palpa.
Day 3
After breakfast, drive to another destination.
